Why does no one care about co-op?

    Posted: 28 Dec 2019 06:20 AM PST

I primarily play PAD with a buddy and we basically do everything in PAD together, in co-op. It's a total blast, but I've noticed that almost no one talks about Co-op. It's always about solo or co-op DC.

The somewhat uneventful release of Fagan - Rai (basically my dream card for a long time) has me quite perplexed. I thought it would make co-op more popular, but actually whenever people talk about Fagan, it's always about his equip or using him in solo with a ton of Valerias and SB equips, or with co-op DC. It seems to be quite a common viewpoint that he's just for his equip or as a really niche solo lead if your box actually has the rare stuff to support him.

    But why not co-op?!

Some reasons I've theorized on why no one cares about co-op:

    1. It makes the game too easy for endgame players, to the point of trivializing it, so why would anyone want to do it?

    2. People don't actually have friends to play with, and the fact that you need to be online at the same time, and have compatible leads, and want to run the same things act as additional limiting factors.

    3. Most people here are endgame, so they can clear everything solo anyway and don't need the extra help.

    4. No super awakenings in co-op (and to a lesser extent, no badges, which usually means a bit less move time than in solo).

    5. No one mentions it because it's too OBVIOUS. Of course Fagan destroys in Co-op, it's a no brainer. The real question is around how we can make him work in solo, where it's much more difficult. So that's all they talk about.

Why I think co-op is great:

    1. FAGAN RAI. This absolute fucking unit is so fun to play and unlocks so much content I would otherwise be unable to even touch, as I'm a midgame player. Hitting the SB requirement can be a little tricky but is made a lot easier with Rikuu, Whaledor, Dolq, Valeria, and other high SB cards. And pairing Rikuu with Fagan makes it even more easy to hit the SB count, and works almost as well! And even if people don't have Fagan (since most people seem to have picked Zaerog), most people will have Rikuu, which makes Fagan incredibly accessible.

    2. Co-op makes things viable that would otherwise be unviable in solo. In solo play, every single sub and assist slot is precious, and you can't really afford to waste your slots on suboptimal things. But co-op gives you a lot more room to use the things that you think are cool but would otherwise be unable to bring. Like SRevo cards. They are SO cool in my opinion but almost everyone agrees that they aren't really the best in practical use. Co-op lets you bring the cool, the suboptimal, the maybe not so great stuff! Or maybe the not so great stuff is all you have, which leads us to the next point, which is ...

    3. It makes the game easier, especially for not-endgame players who can't steamroll everything with their box quite yet. For those players, making the game easier and unlocking a lot of otherwise unaccessible content makes it more fun. Think stuff like the monthly quests, annihilation dungeons, or gathering the SRevo descended bosses. These dungeons might be trivial to a lot of the veterans to the game, but for others, being able to clear them can open up a lot of doors.

    4. Half Stam on every dungeon lets you play more PAD and have more fun, and also is a lot more forgiving for failures.

    5. It's just plain old more fun to play with a buddy rather than just by yourself.

What do you guys think the reason is that no one cares about co-op (and by extension, Fagan - RAI in co-op)?

    Question about assists -

    Posted: 28 Dec 2019 01:57 PM PST

Hey guys, I played this game years ago and just recently got back into it. Wow, they added a lot of new stuff! Can someone explain to me why in many cases you would want a higher cooldown time for weapon assists - higher than the active it is assisting? Thanks!

    Valentine’s Day orb skin

    Posted: 28 Dec 2019 09:54 AM PST

Given that we just had the Archdemon skin announced, it's likely that the next skin will be Kami Series 2, as the Su Xiang already have a skin. Meanwhile, Ame no Uzume and Kushinada-hime already have seasonal varieties.

So the question is, who's most likely to get us the skin—Yamasachi, Izanagi, or Okuninushi?

What's the best way to handle monsters that won't let you defeat them in one hit?

    Posted: 28 Dec 2019 06:21 AM PST

I'll be doing a dungeon like Legendary Snowy Valley and the boss monster in the dungeon won't let me defeat him in one move. Is there anyway to counter this?
