GunguHo Chibi Urd / Nidhogg Swipe System with Supercharged Exploitation: Training Arena 2 (and Beyond?)

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 11:45 AM PST

A few days ago, I posted some initial comments about a Nidhogg swipe system with Chibi Urd leaders. Since then, I've worked on the system a little more, and I've run it through training arena 5 times. So, I'm back to report on my results.

Chibi Urd is a 4/400/4 lead with a very high attack and decent HP, with 20% additional HP through awakenings, with 3 >50% awakenings and a VDP awakening for even higher personal damage, and with the ability to fully activate the leader skill every turn.

Nidhogg has decent but unexceptional stats, 3 row enhance awakenings, a God killer awakening, and a 7 turn active skill cool down which charges other skills by 1 turn. A system of 4 of them as subs allows you to cycle the active skills, creating a top row of fire orbs and a bottom row of jammers, every turn, while the 4 of them give a total of 12 row enhance awakenings. And, of course, the Nidhogg system has the advantage of being fully farmable.

Together, they have unusual (unique?) synergy, because Nidhogg skill charges each turn, while Chibi Urd has a 1 turn active skill cool down. This has a few implications:

    1. This means you can not only activate each Chibi Urd every turn, but further, *you can first activate both Urds each turn, then activate Nidhogg each turn, then activate both Urds a second time each turn* since the skill charge from Nidhogg brings Urd's one turn active up again. By doing this, you can flood the board with fire orbs every turn. You can't predict how many you'll get, because any from Urd that randomly appear on the bottom row, before you activate Nidhogg, will be turned into jammers and lost when Nidhogg is activated, while any which appear on the top row will be made redundant by Nidhogg turning the top row into a row of fire orbs—but you can make up to 18 fire orbs per turn. Depending upon whether there are already any fire orbs on the board, you will typically end up with about 15-20 fire orbs on the board per turn, allowing you to make 3 rows, or a row and VDP, or two rows and a match, each turn.
    2. Alternatively, any skills you assist onto the leader Chibi Urds only have one extra turn of cool down from being inherited on a card with a 1 turn cool down, *but can be charged twice as fast as usual, through Nidhogg's skill charge each turn*. Fast skills become available once every few turns.
    3. You can use skills inherited onto Chibi Urds, such as a damage boost, then use Nidhogg's active skill to make a row, *then use Chibi Urd's skills again in the same turn, due to Nidhogg's skill charge*.

For Training Arena 2, the team building is simple: start with Chibi Urd leaders and Nidhogg subs, then stack as many more fire row enhance awakenings and fire orb enhance awakenings as possible, through assists. The assists I used were Kotone's armband, Stera Wil and Gran Guard, Madoo's hat, Remu's wand, Rathalos flamesword, and Tigrex Blade. That gave me a total of 23 fire row enhance awakenings, and 11 fire orb enhance awakenings.

Normally, you might want to put someone else in one of the Nidhogg slots for Training Arena 2, but I actually was trying to level up my Chibi Urds and my Nidhoggs.

The strategy was also simple: The first turn (i.e., before the Nidhogg actives were ready), activate both Urds, and make rows and matches using those and any fire orbs on the board. After the first floor, generate fire orbs by using actives every turn, with the aim to ideally end up with 18 fire orbs on the board—or, if not, then the aim to end up with as close to 18 as possible without going over 18. Then, make three fire rows and a jammer match every turn, or make 2 fire rows, a third fire match, and a jammer match, every turn.

The results were much better than I expected.

Each of the five times I've run through Training arena 2, so far, I've one shot every single floor. Also, each time, both my Chibi Urd leaders have damage capped every single floor except the first. (I typically hit around 1.5-2 billion on the first floor.)

    A few additional comments:

    A) It's easy and consistent to do 3 fire rows and a jammer match, or 2 fire rows, a third fire match, and a jammer match, every turn. And that's all it takes to hit the damage cap. Every turn, like clockwork.

    B) All of this has been with a team that is not yet fully leveled up.

    C) I put 4 devil killers on one of my Chibi Urds, to help me with the boss floor. In retrospect, that was a waste, since the other Chibi Urd also hits the damage cap every floor. So, don't bother doing this.

    D) Likewise, I was originally considering saving Kotone's active to burst down the final floor. Don't bother with this, either. No burst is necessary. You're better off activating your Chibi Urds to generate fire orbs than saving them for a burst active.

    E) I don't think it matters whether you use a leader with an even higher damage multiplier, for TA2. Chibi Urd is already damage capping every turn, and that's enough. Meanwhile, the Nihogg subs are typically doing about 150-250 million damage each, per turn, depending upon the total number of matches. In some contexts, it might seem like the Nidhogg subs are doing good damage, but here, it makes no difference. Combined, it's a about a third to half as much damage as a single Urd is doing, and also not enough to break through the defenses of Genie or the boss floor.

    F) Chibi Urd can operate a little bit differently (i.e., more safely) than some other low-HP conditional cards. The combination of 4x RCV and a 1 turn active that cuts HP in half means that every turn you can heal up far above the halfway point before taking a hit, then cut your HP before doing your next attack,

    G) This team is slightly slower than some, due to activating skills up to five times each turn, and counting fire orbs. I've been very casually doing about 7 minute runs through TA2, though I could probably speed it up a little if I tried.

    H) The number of row enhances, orb enhances, and the amount of damage, with the team as I currently have it, appears to be overkill. That's a good thing, since it means there's room to put in another sub, instead.

In my estimation, it should be no problem to sub in a different monster for a run through Training Arena 2, to level that monster up. Since the team can one-shot every floor, you can stall for a turn or two on any floor that doesn't hit on the first turn. If necessary, you can even heal up and tank a hit for further stalling (the team already has over 230K HP at maximum, and they're not fully leveled up yet). There are plenty of floors you can stall on, and Nidhogg's skill will come up again, fast. Or, instead of stalling, you can make only two rows on floors that don't require hitting harder, while saving up orbs for the next floor, without needing to use Nidhogg's active every turn. I expect that leveling up random monsters through TA2 with this team should be easy. I'd just put whatever monster I want to level into one of the sub spots, and maybe put an assist with rows or orb enhances on it.

Is there more use for Chibi Urd than Training Arena 2? I'm not sure yet, but it seems like there should be. Each Urd has 500,000 FUA every turn. The fixed 8 second time is sufficient for a lot of dungeons. The blind-proof awakening is useful, too. URD has a VDP, and the constant orb generation, combined with the 8 second fixed time, makes it fairly easy to VDP on demand. You can also charge assisted or inherited skills to use fast, and then still have quick access to using skills for orb generation. You can inherit Kuroyuri on one of your Chibi Urds, basically doing a Kuroyuri healing system *with only one* inherited Kuroyuri, while healing up nearly 100,000 damage per turn. More experiments are necessary, but I really like Chibi Urd so far, and I'm hopeful that the basic template I'm using for Chibi Urd in Training Arena 2 can be modified for wider use.

Not even mad, I just don't think my brain can react quickly enough. Unfortunate since it's been my only goal since starting the game.

Major props to everyone who can do it though. Effortlessly, even. o__o

Simple checklist to this week’s ranking dungeon

    Posted: 07 Dec 2020 06:37 PM PST

Don't think anyone has done this yet so this is how I did it. Edit: People have definitely done this but I still did it.

    Few requirements on team:

    1) 5 att. (only need fire, water, wood)

    2) guard break anywhere

    3) (personal rec.) mass atk badge (heavily eases team building and allows a single damage card to sweep)

4a. (personal rec.) dragon killer, physical killer, or both. F2 and F3 are dragon/physical, F1 is machine/physical

4b. (alternative) high 10c (if you're confident), 7c, or HP-based damage awakenings + respective latents

4bi. (optional) if building a 10c card, orb lock skill will help. just be aware that activating skills will slow you down and cost valuable points

Ideally, you don't need to build for skills ANYWHERE! Bless

Specific examples of good, common/meta killers, loosely ordered from most to least reliable (may need latents):

    • Pixel Robin Hood: 1x 7c, 4x physical killers, SA between another 7c or cloud resist, can take any latent

    • Lina = Inverse: 4x dragon killers, fire att. advantage, can take physical killer latent

    • SRevo Shiva: 2x 7c, 1x dragon killer, fire att. advantage, additional dragon killer SA and can take physical killer latent

    • Dragonbound Kiri: 3x dragon killers, 1x physical killer, can take physical killer latent; be aware of type disadvantage

    • Aten: 10c but reliable as always

    • Leona: 10c like Aten but lacks physical killer, may need latent

    • Probably more

Remember that if you're a scrub like me going for high-speed/low-combo, more killers instead of 7c is helpful

    Process in-dungeon:

    • ideally 5 att. on every floor, no questions asked

    • time over combo is perfectly fine (and for most, the most humanly efficient), unless you need 7c. personal results suggested speed over combo, with roughly 7c average

    • that said, aiming for 6-8c average should be fine if your damage is sufficient. F3 is easy to combo, and may possibly net you time-efficient combos done right. F1 and F2 are not as easy

    • do not base your combos entirely around the spinner orb, it will slow you down a lot. do abuse the spinner now and then if you're confident.

In case anyone is doing this, I'm getting good results just coop running the 5* 8 floor dungeon and getting 8 drops very often with many golds. It's easily runable with normal Dios squad (using sylvie leads). I'm doing it for the killers and evo gems, don't need extras of the farmables.

Any team advice for me after a several year break?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 01:15 PM PST

Making a repost because I made a mistake on my old thread and it got auto-modded as a LF post. I tend to struggle with team-building by myself, so I was hoping for some community input on a good direction to try taking myself. I haven't played in a few years, but I think I got some decent rolls from the free appreciation machine. I've been experimenting with Yog and MA Kami as leads, but I wanted to know if there's something else I should be doing or how I should be going about subs.

[Rant] Aizen should've buffs in the same vein as Salter

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 10:08 AM PST

I'm absolutely loving the buffs to salter and I'm glad they decided to increase her damage after previosly only buffing her shield. She's not meta, but she can clear current content with the same playstyle.

That's what Aizen should've gotten. Not enough to be meta and hurt their bottom line, but enough to where if you wanted to use your old favorite you're not handicapped by inflation powercreep.
