May 2020 NA Leader Tier List

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 12:57 AM PDT

May 2020 NA Leader Tier List

This tier lists consists of two categories: optimal and low rarity. The idea is to cater to two audiences: whales and everyone else. As usual this is off my experience playing in JP along with reference to various JP youtubers.

    First some general comments:

    • This includes leaders up to Heroine rerun
    • The differences in the leaders are so small it doesn't matter between 1 vs 5
    • I only play single player and all judgement is based off the ability to clear end game content - at least be able to clear 2 of the following dungeons consistently: AA3, A6, Col2 and AA4
      • The criteria is around speed, consistency, ease of use and ability to deal with the various dungeon mechanics
    • The game is in such a good position right now that there's a lot more leaders than I listed that can clear all content - no need to quit the game if your favourite leader isn't here
    • Note all the teams are just generic templates - you'll need to make adjustments for specific dungeon mechanics
    • Constructive feedback is welcome. If it's just rude or trolling, I'll just simply block you.

The idea isn't to replace the JP lists but give everyone access to ones in English with explanations to help people understand team characteristics better. Here are the JP lists for reference:

    May Update Summary

    • No major changes to leader pairings except Dyer/Ideal bumped to 2nd due to strength in AA4
    • Updated subs for Dyer/Ideal as well as Lamp/Minaka
    • Chakeol is an excellent leader allowing bypass of time debuffs as well as amazing active but lower quality subs for wood don't place her in ranking. However she's a top tier sub for any team that can fit her.
    • Shinji is an excellent rainbow leader and sub but 5 color requirement makes it less consistent than Dyer/VIdeal

    Upcoming Changes

    • With the release of AA4, I plan to change the standings to focus more on this dungeon as it's a substantially more challenging dungeon than AA3. Almost any recent leader can easily clear the other endgame dungeons now. For example, I plan to remove the majority of 7x6 leaders even if they're AA4 capable.
    • May expand the pantheon leaders to top 10 to help out newer players with ideas

    Meta Overview

The list is completely dominated by transform leaders, monsters that change to another monster upon active usage. Transform leaders are more powerful than their non-transform counterparts but require specialized subs to enable floor1 transforms:

    • Higher LS multipliers
    • Significantly shorter CD actives to minimize stalling

Even though some dungeons have come out to counter transform teams such as floor1 skill delays or skill binds, this meta will stay for a while given JP is still releasing transform supporting monsters such as alternative leader pairings and high SB subs.

Rainbow is on the rise with the addition of VDP latent along with additional power subs like Chakeol. This is especially true for AA4 where utility is more important than VDP damage.

Leaders no longer pair with themselves but there are better pairings compared with others - for example Alice/Fasca is an upgrade to Alice/Tifa in almost every way. This also means players can take advantage of an ultra rare leader by using a compatible pair.

    Top Leader - Optimal Build

If you have perfect subs and inherits, who's the best?

    Yugi Fasca (https://www.reddit.com/r/PuzzleAndDragons/comments/exm8i2/guide_yugi_team_building/)

This is my Col2 team. Swap to Kuriboh assist for other dungeons or run SBR badge.

    Strength

    • Combination of Yugi high multiplier, poison immunity with Fasca's 7x6 board, excellent RCV and insane utility active
    • Deals damage easily with dark VDP and poison match or match 6 dark poison set and combo
    • Full hazard resist along with counters to almost all counter mechanics: locked orbs, time debuff, unmatchable orbs, RCV debuff
    • Same team can take on any dungeon - No reliance on SAs to transform
    • If you plan to run AA4 then make sure you run a board unlock inherit to clear poisons from Acala and then 1-shot with Bakura.

    Weakness

    • Extremely restrictive subs, losing any of them would equal losing out on some level of utility
    • Any dungeon that executes based on poison orbs on the board

    Summary

    • Do-it-all team

    Dyer VIdeal

    https://preview.redd.it/2c0hsjbupu251.jpg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=84a8358b7d11d43712250710762fcc27e08ea7ef

    Strength

    • Easy to use with 12s+ movement time on 6x5 board. Minimum 9 combos every turn with little effort
    • Aten is a damage monster, even more so with VDP latent
    • Extremely high utility with damage void, damage absorb, attribute absorb, bind/awoken bind clear, RCV debuff, time debuff along with full hazard resist
    • The most consistent+fast AA4 clear in NA. Note that a similar team with double VIdeal would be a safer choice although may require more stalling.

    Weakness

    • VDP can still be a problem if you don't run Shelling Ford for dungeons like AA2/3 As VDP latent removes the primary weakness of damage void shields, what's left is really active skill management.

    Summary

    • Rainbow is back riding on the back of a tiny ball?

    Yugi Nelle (https://www.reddit.com/r/PuzzleAndDragons/comments/exm8i2/guide_yugi_team_building/)

    https://preview.redd.it/161448l8lu251.jpg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b1795e3d503f7f6ed5205dd9f5cec68329b00a55

    Strength

    • Extreme effective HP, high damage/recovery, poison immune by default and crazy 17s+ movement time
    • Huge damage with a single row without needing to combo
    • The combination of Nelle+Yugi's crazy damage along with the high HP allows multiple subs to be "off-type". For example you can swap in HBastet/Hermei to counter A6/AA4
    • If you plan to run AA4, suggest using the RCV badge to maximize consistency of stalling through Nohime debuffs

    Weakness

    • RCV debuffs can hurt

    Summary

    • The more flexible Yugi team

    DLilia Fasca (https://www.reddit.com/r/PuzzleAndDragons/comments/fiyxxu/guide_fasca_team_building/)

Special Note: Yokai equip is meant to be Dragon Dagger (4959).

    Strength

    • Pure combo based game play without any gimmicks but provides the same high level of bulk, damage and recovery
    • AutoFUA is much easier to activate compared with Alice
    • AValeria makes this team possible with SBs and damage
    • Tons of orb changes make this team incredibly fast and consistent
    • Same full hazard and utility as other teams on this list

    Weakness

    • Movement time is lower than others

    Summary

    • Underrated pure combo bliss

    Lampeid Fasca (https://www.reddit.com/r/PuzzleAndDragons/comments/fiyxxu/guide_fasca_team_building/)

Use Lamp followed by Elsha then Kanna to prioritize the active CDs

    Strength

    • Easy to activate autoFUA along with good enough damage and insane recovery
    • Deena is MVP with anti spinner active along with giving Lampeid 3 additional orbs each turn
    • More flexible playstyle without needing to rely on rows unlike Yugi/Nelle
    • Easier to build for Col2 due to no-SA SB sticks like Lampeid himself, Elsha and Polowne

    Weakness

    • Team tends to have less HP than others on the list

    Summary

    • Goodbye spinners, hello bunny girl

Top Leaders - Low Rarity Build

If you can only build with non-collab cards as subs which leaders give you the most flexibility but can still give you an edge in the end game?

    Dyer VIdeal

    https://preview.redd.it/17j84eqymu251.jpg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3490b07542ab10ce099c50b1121a68a628f81ba7

    Strength

    • Very balanced with high HP, damage, recovery with crazy movement time and autoFUA
    • Take advantage of the best pantheon monsters in the game along with MP dragons
    • Even if you don't have your own Shelling Ford, you can borrow a friend's
    • Pairing with Aten (VDP latent) is a good option for 7x6 flexibility and alternative way to deal with damage voids

    Weakness

    • Lack of skyfall can make combo shields harder

    Summary

    • I can't believe I need to look through boxes for potential rainbow teams!

    Alice Fasca (https://www.reddit.com/r/PuzzleAndDragons/comments/fiyxxu/guide_fasca_team_building/)

    https://preview.redd.it/gkdd84i2nu251.jpg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=18a54a7fcb27a81c3282e8b86e995034080a94e4

    Strength

    • High effective HP, damage and recovery
    • Easiest to build 18CD transform leader with built in 6SB equiv and tape resist
    • Access to many pantheon subs with full resists along with access to a farmable sub Raziel. Can even run off-type subs.
    • Very easily build for full color coverage to take on all-attributes dungeons or add in guardbreak for A6

    Weakness

    • AutoFUA is inconsistent, just play like it doesn't exist
    • Lack of orb changers can make the team feel weak but remember 1 set of light orbs is enough to kill most floors

    Summary

    • Building transform teams is as easy as 1-2-3

    Lampeid Minaka

    https://preview.redd.it/sxn42ri4nu251.jpg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3c48215d99b75286be5ec5eea18da11936ec327c

    Strength

    • Pairing with Minaka reduces the SB requirements to 12 while still providing high RCV
    • Team needs a VDP stick to be effective - luckily most of the top ones are dragons or attackers. Make sure to enhance the sub with a damage boost like Helen Card if you're only running one.
    • Introduction of SKarin makes it more feasible to pair with Fasca if you have two Karins. They also fit the VDP role on the team perfectly
    • Built in poison resist makes team building a lot easier along with built in movement time

    Weakness

    • Lack of bulk means you'll need to understand dungeons more deeply and use Minaka's active appropriately
    • Can't take advantage of some of the stronger pantheon subs like PKarin and SHermes

    Summary

    • Coco is that you?

    Ina Hermei

    https://preview.redd.it/bmd0hmpgnu251.jpg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f9b80ccb4674528e1c4cb27bbbafb1b88280edb

    Strength

    • Very well rounded team with just leaders with AutoFUA, good multipliers as well as debuff counters
    • Dark has access to some of the best pantheon, especially ones with full resists like PHaku and RLumiel
    • Hermei is a direct upgrade to Phenom, note that he doesn't need to transform for his LS. You can run Phenom if your subs all break light
    • 6x5 is particularly effective in A6 where there's fewer combo shields and you do not get debuffed by Nohime

    Weakness

    • Team may play slower due to 6 orb requirement and lack short CD light+dark orb changers

    Summary

    • Ina I still love you

    Velkhana Minaka

    https://preview.redd.it/zplpswninu251.jpg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f05b8256523dd5b5a0fc54468e23011bb788ee76

    Strength

    • Velkhana provides so much bulk and damage+VDP, he carries the team on his shoulders. Particularly good for players that lack a strong VDP monster.
    • Combination of Minaka, Mut and RCV+ latents ensure you can shield every turn
    • PKarin is an amazing sub - she can combo with Minaka for a bicolor board as well

    Weakness

    • If reliant on Velkhana for damage then team may struggle to one-shot non-devils. Keep that in mind particularly for A6 and AA3.

    Summary

    • Is Velkhana a he or she?

I've cleared it but I don't see the rewards in my mail. Previously, the rewards came in immediately after I cleared the 3p Ultimate Machine Rush. I double checked, log out and log in a couple times, but they're not there.

Bulky rainbow teams: Team 1 being more bulky and powerful, Team 2 having fixed damage. I personally wouldn’t mind occasionally lining up 5 heart orbs. (Aten has damage void piercer latent)

Norza and Yomi Players in Japan - Damage Question for AA4 - NA Example Team

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 12:03 PM PDT

Norza and Yomi Players in Japan - Damage Question for AA4 - NA Example Team

    Hi all,

I am working on a NA team guide for Yomi / Norza for AA4 and A6 and trying to finalize teams with out some key assists from JP: Mickey and Friends equip (#6005) and the new Useugi Kenshin equip (#6239).

Does each Norza need to equip Spirit Ally, Koro (#5257) to one shot floors 19 and 20 through the damage reduction debuff? Or is one Norza equipped with one enough?

I created a NA sample team based off NAO's bad ass team (video link).

I am trying to build optimal NA teams that have full resists, attribute absorb, damage debuff counter, awoken skill bind removal, and unmatchable orb removal. RCV and time debuffs are handled by Norza.

Please note, this is a super whale team, see below. Apologies in advance: two Norzas, Yomi, Gintoki, Kintoki Sun Wukong, Blue Odin, Akuma assist, Thunderlord Shocker assist, Captain's Robe assist, Shanao assist, and an Uroboros assist.

This team has 17SB and can take the first hit from Undine on floor 1 via the Kintoki Sun Wukong shield combined with a heart/blue shield from Norza and Yomi. After that hit, you can transform both Norzas. His skill will also recharge to counter Kaminue's attribute absorb on floor 13. That shield will also will also help take the hit from Kurone on floor 15 if you get Myne on floor 14.

With Gintoki Sakata as a sub, he can unbind Freyja's 5 turn awoken skill debuff on floor 6. Finally, his Captain's Robe equip (#6096) will be up by floor 19 and 20.

With Reincarnated Odin and his Shanao equip, you can use it for Enoch on floor 3 and have it charged up by floor 19 to counter Odin Dragon.

Looking forward to any feedback you have. If you need to have two Spirit Ally, Koro equips to do enough damage, I am working on a few different teams but you lose of the smoothness of this team when it comes to handling specific floors that have awoken skill bind and/or unmatchable orb debuffs.

Here's the team I am optimizing.

Thank you for help and advice.

    [Help][Team] A6 team help

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 05:49 AM PDT

    Hi all,

I'm looking for help with tweaking my A6 team (or suggestions on something completely different.

My current team and full box is listed here: https://imgur.com/gallery/zmWeold

Currently using: Yugi, WingedDragon, Diaochan, Valeria, Revo Yugi . I've tried pairing with another Yugi which gives me my best chance. Made it to floor 19 once, but usually die somewhere in the middle due to some stupid mechanic.

I've tried pairing with Hermei, but 90% of the time I've died on floor 2 due to lack of dark or light orbs

I've tried pairing with Nelle and that works pretty well, but the 7x6 board causes issues with Nohime etc.

I have also tried an Alice/Fasca team, but that usually ended in death on the first 5-10 floors.

Any help would be appreciated because this dungeon has been extremely frustrating to me.

    Thanks.

Is it worth it to upgrade Base Uruka to its ultimate Evo?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 10:51 AM PDT

I lack rainbow leaders, which is why I use Uruka. Her leader skill is 1.5x all stats dragon and 8.5x atk when matching all attributes and heal except light. She also gives 7x6 board. The leader skill before was her base Evo

Her ult evo's leader skill is the same except that I get 2x rcu when matching the attributes. I pair Uruka with dark Kali, (I have no idea what other leader to pair with, I even tried Barbara and Julie) so would it be a good idea? My subs would be Super Revo Horus, Fire Cotton, Pixel Sherias, and Arend from the draconic event. I don't think I am getting enough rcu from Dark Kali alone.

[Team] Dyer 6x5 without Aten or still run Dyer/Aten?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2020 04:22 AM PDT

[Team] Dyer 6x5 without Aten or still run Dyer/Aten?

Currently running this team with great success in A6. Nohime is not much of an issue there, but I lose a lot of consistency in AA4, especially if I run into Freyja as I cannot recharge my Awoken Bind fast enough to tank the 15CD delay.

Dyer has LeadSwap Latent and Diao Chan has Poison Skyfall Latent.

I'm fairly sure I won't have the damage required to run 6x5 without Aten. Having the spike on Dyer is nice when you don't need VDP bypass, but... Will probably need to put ShellingFord equip back on.

My box is well developped and fairly big so... Prefer not posting it. Assuming I have everything but Aten, should I adapt this team better or switch to 6x5 somehow?
