    [JP] Jan 2020 Review

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 07:38 AM PST

Hopefully this is the first of many posts I'll do at the end of each month wrapping up key releases in JP and providing my comments. The idea is not to provide a full review of each card but more of a highlight of specific cards. I'm going to focus on cards that'll have a chance to come to NA. Big thanks to Protic blog as usual for translations which I'll reference a lot.

As usual, this is based off my playing experience in JP along with watching various JP youtubers. As this is the first in the series, some of these cards may have been released before January.

    Yugioh (https://pad.protic.site/yu-gi-oh-dm-collab-details/)

    • Yugi is plain busted - hands down the most OP leader to date
      • A better Ina in every way but remember you don't need him to take advantage
      • Leaderswap with HBastet/Taoren/HMadoo/etc are just as good as Nere IMO
      • Genjuro/HMadoo are the better 6x5 pairings
      • Due to 20 CD, you basically have to use Yugi subs like fortress dragon to transform turn 1
    • Bakura - probably the best damage sub in the game. Recommend to run only on 7x6 for consistent 3 poison orbs every turn
    • Velkhana > Kaiba as a leader but Kaiba is still one of the best blue subs
    • Dark Magician (DM) - this is the main gem of the collab, he provides 7 SB combined with his delay or his equip provides 4 SB (can use on any future transform team)
    • Rolling advice:
      • Best reroll target as you can roll an entire Yugi team (double Yugi, dragon and dark magician, flex)
      • Don't dump all your stones if you can't trade for Yug or have a compatible leadi (I rolled 1200 stones before getting Yugi). The other cards in the collab just aren't worth it
      • If you trade for Yugi or have a compatible leader, you should at least roll for 2 fortress dragons, preferably DM as well
      • If none of the above apply, I suggest you at least roll for 1 fortress dragon or if you have a lot of stones then DM as I suspect more OP transform leaders/subs will be released

    Nere and Faska (https://pad.protic.site/new-fes-exclusives-more-great-witches/)

    • Yugi > Faska > Nere
      • Yugi makes Nere OP, if you look at Nere in isolation she's just a super cute 7x6 leader with good multiplier
    • Faska is the most flexible transform leader: Lilia, Haohmaru, Super-1, Yugi, Alice, Blujin, DKarin, Yugi
      • Lots of pantheon subs: Ariel, SVenus, Ruel, Frejya
      • https://youtu.be/gubQu0u9va8 - almost all "farmable" subs
      • Don't be fooled by her RCV multiplier, she cannot outheal poison in most builds as attackers have extremely low RCV
    • Rolling advice:
      • I suggest rolling in their SGF if you're a newer player with a less developed box. You can literally roll her entire team (Zela, Ruel, Ruel, Frejya, Faska for example)
      • For players with more trade fodder better to trade for a compatible leader like Alice or Lilia

    SAO (https://pad.protic.site/sao-collab-2nd-run-details/)

    • Kirito - Makes NYReeche much more consistent, especially against Yog with his immense HP
    • Alice - Great Faska pairing or sub (6SB equiv AND tape res is too good)
      • This is a great example of powercreep. Even if you match 1 set of light orbs the pair still does 180x which is more than most Tifa combinations
      • Note that she plays like a combo lead - I do FUA to kill stuff most of the time
    • Yuuki - amazing Faska sub and a great inherit for any transform team. Super underrated IMO
    • Rolling advice
      • Trade for what you need - 5 stone REMs are rare. Can make use of those 6* GFEs

    Others

    • SVenus - really really good Faska sub (fingers are hard to come by with attackers)
    • RRuel/RAriel - another great Faska sub, since Alice/Freyja/Faska aren't orb makers their actives come in handy after using their inherit (jammer override/fujin/etc)
    • SFreyja - great 7x6 swap leader to pair with especially with Onoda-kun (bike guy). However in NA, Lilia works just as well IMO.
    • Horus - top tier utility sub after the buff
      • Low cd, L unluck, time debuff, board unlock
      • Perfect Faska sub, especially for Super-1 (slap DM equip and you've got a 7 SB card as well!)

Note I'll have more detailed post on each of the above in my review posts once they get closer to NA release. I also plan to do a Yugi and separate Faska team build guide. If you're going to provide feedback, please be constructive - always looking for ways to improve my posts.

    Thoughts on the Seasonal SGF?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 07:57 AM PST

BZela, B&J and BVeroah are clearly great, but other than that, it looks a bit underwhelming. The other GFE's are pretty meh (particularly the bridal offerings), and nothing jumps out in the Pantheons (no Diaochan, Hades, Yomi, etc.). Am I missing something? Is this one worth rolling in compared to an average SGF (one with a good selection of GFE's)?
