I'm a long-time casual PAD player -- 2 accounts (ranks 600 & 400), installed September 2014, and just recently earned my 1000-day Tamadra. I've put together some useful information for new & returning players below. Disclaimer: personal opinions included. Don't forget that PAD is a game, so always do what's fun, even if non-optimal. Arena 3 Alt. Arena 2, Arena 5, Monthly Challenge 10, and Annihilation difficulty descends (e.g. Qilin, Eris, Scheherazade, Brahma) Tough Mechanics -> Most are countered by Awakenings & Skills Hazard orbs & skyfall (poison, jammer/bomb, blind) Cloud (can't see orbs) Tape (can't move orbs) Spinners (orbs loop on a timer changing from fire->water->wood->light->dark->heart) Orb lock (most active skills can't transform locked orbs) Unmatchable orbs (darkened orbs with an X on them, cannot be cleared, even when made into a combo) Damage Void (if you do more than the damage threshold, that damage dealt is turned to zero) Damage Absorb (if you do more than the damage threshold, that damage is instead healed by the enemy) Attribute Absorb Combo Shield Awoken Bind (enemy turns off all of your awakenings) Skill Bind (enemy turns off ability to use your active skills) Resolve (if enemy is above resolve HP threshold, no matter how much damage is dealt, the enemy will survive with at least 1HP--like Pokemon's "Focus Sash" --> if you OHKO an enemy above the Resolve threshold, they'll usually survive with the 1HP and execute you unless you have FUA) Skill delay (increase number of turns until can use active skills) Time debuff (less movetime) RCV debuff (heal for less) Other Things Upgrading Your Cards Max Level (99), then Level Limit Break (up to Lvl 110) Pluses (up to +297 upgrading all a card's stats) Awakenings Super Awakening (only after Level Limit Break) --> randomly rolled, you have to spend 297 plus points every time to keep rolling for what you want Latent Awakenings (most players use SDR to resist skill delays and Killers to do more damage to certain types of enemies) Assist Monster (gain another skill that charges up past the base monster's, more stats if on-color, and extra awakenings if equipping a "weapon" or "Awoken Assist" awakening) submitted by /u/Broligee [link] [comments]

The CD does make a massive difference. Their team template page got updated as well with a ton of different combinations.
